由於之前涉毒調查，李善均面臨著極大的賠償金壓力。在輿論巨大的債務下，他選擇自殺，以免將來的債務影響到家人。他之前接受過三次調查，最長一次長達19個小時。韓國警方回應指出，所有調查都是在李善均本人同意下進行的，並表示由於嫌疑人去世，無法提出起訴。因此，涉毒案將以結案處理。

However, on the morning of December 27, 2023, Lee Sun-kyun was found unconscious near a parked vehicle in Seoul's Namsan Park. Traces of charcoal were discovered at the scene. Previously, he had been detained and prosecuted for alleged drug use.

On that day, Korean media disclosed the contents of Lee Sun-kyun's suicide note. In the letter, he expressed feelings of despair and the belief that suicide was the only option. He apologized to his wife and expressed remorse to his management agency. Due to the drug-related case, he faced substantial breach of contract fines, with the total compensation for canceled advertisements and film-related damages amounting to 1 trillion Korean won, approximately 2.4 billion New Taiwan dollars.

Under immense pressure from the substantial compensation claims related to the previous drug investigation, Lee Sun-kyun chose suicide to prevent the heavy debt burden from affecting his family in the future. He had undergone three investigations before his suicide, with the longest one lasting 19 hours. The South Korean police responded by stating that all investigations were conducted with Lee Sun-kyun's consent and that, due to the suspect's death, there would be no prosecution. Consequently, the drug-related case would be closed.
