Recently, some experts have predicted the possibility of South Korea facing a population decline, but whether this prediction will come true remains to be seen. As a developed country in Asia, South Korea was once renowned for its rapid economic development, known as the "Han River Miracle." However, according to statistical data, over 56% of young people aged between 20 and 30 express a desire to move abroad. Based on immigration data, as of 2020, approximately 7 million Koreans reside overseas, a figure that, in comparison, is not alarming when juxtaposed with India's 18 million overseas residents. Considering South Korea's official population of around 51 million, about 15% of the population resides outside the country.

Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that in the past decade, an average of over 600,000 people per year have emigrated from South Korea. In contrast, the total number of births in 2022 was only 249,000 for the entire year, leading to a nationwide population decline. This trend has raised concerns among experts about South Korea's demographic challenges and sparked profound discussions on the reasons behind emigration.
