專為訪日外國旅客設計的「櫻花版西瓜卡」（Welcome Suica），因免繳 500 日圓押金且具紀念價值，一直以來都是赴日自由行旅客的熱門選擇。然而，許多旅客在抵達日本時，往往花費大量時間在成田或羽田機場的櫃檯與專用售票機前排隊購卡。事實上，JR 東日本早已將發售管道擴展至東京都內及周邊的多個核心樞紐大站。

在市區車站購買 Welcome Suica 時，旅客無法直接透過普通的自動售票機操作，而是必須前往設有「JR 東日本旅行服務中心」（JR EAST Travel Service Center）的指定站點。目前提供現場購卡服務的大站包括東京站、新宿站、澀谷站、池袋站、上野站、高輪 Gateway 站（TAKANAWA GATEWAY Travel Service Center）以及橫濱站。此外，位於東京站內的特約點「JAPAN RAIL CAFE TOKYO」亦設有銷售服務。前往購票時，旅客須隨身攜帶護照以供工作人員核對外國籍身份，原則上每人限購一張。

為了提升旅遊效率，專家建議抵達機場後急於前往市區的旅客，可先使用智慧型手機綁定 Apple Wallet 數位卡，或是購買單程車票進站。待順利抵達市區主要車站後，再前往當地的旅行服務中心購入實體櫻花卡，此舉能大幅縮短在機場等候的時間。不過需特別留意，Welcome Suica 的有效期限為開卡後 28 天，且卡內剩餘的儲值金額在過期後概不退還，因此建議採「少額多次」的方式儲值，避免造成不必要的損失。

除了作為交通與購物支付工具，Welcome Suica 同樣支援交易明細與搭乘履歷的列印服務。若旅客需要報銷公務差旅費用或留作旅途記錄，只需前往 JR 或地鐵站內標有 IC 卡標誌的黑色「多功能售票機」（多機能券売機），將操作介面切換至中文後插入卡片，點選「IC 卡」選單中的「印出履歷」功能即可。系統將自動列印出一張包含近期扣款金額、進出車站名稱及剩餘餘額的紙本明細，單張明細最多可記錄最近 20 筆交易。

The Welcome Suica—distinguished by its red cherry blossom design—is a specialized IC transit card created by JR East for foreign visitors touring Japan. While massive crowds often form at airport arrival halls, JR East has expanded sales of the physical card to major transit hubs across metropolitan Tokyo. Foreign passport holders can purchase a Welcome Suica at JR EAST Travel Service Centers located inside major stations—including Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Ueno, Takanawa Gateway, and Yokohama—as well as designated spots like JAPAN RAIL CAFE TOKYO inside Tokyo Station. Because standard automated ticket machines in city stations do not sell the Welcome Suica, travelers eager to skip long airport lines can board their initial train into the city using an Apple Wallet digital card or a paper single-ride ticket, then visit a travel service center in central Tokyo to acquire their physical keepsake card.

In addition to serving as a payment method for transit and retail purchases, the card allows passengers to generate a physical printout of their travel history for expense reimbursement or personal records. To print a statement, users simply need to find a black Multifunctional Ticket Vending Machine at any JR or subway station, switch the display language to English in the top right corner, insert the card, and select the print history option under the IC Card menu. The machine will issue a detailed paper receipt showing the twenty most recent transactions, including entry and exit stations, deducted fares, and remaining card balances.
