12月20日，鳳凰網公佈俄烏戰場上俄方首位陣亡的中國人資訊，確認來自中國重慶的38歲趙睿在頓巴斯的陣亡消息。

據悉，趙睿首先前往緬北，與當地民族武裝簽署作戰合同書，成為同盟軍的一員。隨後，他轉赴俄羅斯，於10月初加入俄軍第58集團軍某部，接受一個月的瓦格納教官集訓，隨後獲得列兵職務，前往俄烏戰場前線。

趙睿首次被派到前線是在11月11日，當時他與40多名外籍士兵一起，由於戰況激烈，很快他們就被包圍在村莊內無法離開。幾乎用光所有補給，多次目睹烏克蘭的坦克從他們身邊駛過，面臨被殲滅的危機。幸運的是，俄羅斯的接應部隊及時到來，使他們得以活著返回後方。

11月29日，趙睿與戰友一同搭乘裝甲運兵車前往扎波羅熱附近的辛普羅伯卡夫戰場參與作戰。在該戰場，他被烏克蘭軍的無人機炸傷，最終因失血過多而身亡。他的同伴中還包括其他中國人和尼泊爾傭兵。

在趙睿當時的微博發現，俄羅斯方面對這些外來兵的支援相對不足，在很短時間的訓練下，他們很快就被派往最前線的戰壕，缺乏裝備和支援，甚至沒有穩定的通訊設備。在趙睿的最後一段視頻中，他告訴大家不要輕率前往前線，表達對家鄉美食的思念，並希望有機會能夠快點回國。

然而，到了11月29日，趙睿和他的朋友再次接到新的命令，必須再次被派到前線。這時的趙睿已經意識到被當成砲灰的命運，但一切都太晚。最後給家中打個電話交代後事。最終成為烏俄戰爭中死亡的第一位中國人。

On December 20th, Phoenix Net revealed information about the first Chinese casualty on the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield, confirming the death of 38-year-old Zhao Rui from Chongqing, China, in Donetsk.

Reportedly, Zhao Rui initially traveled to northern Myanmar, where he signed a combat contract with local ethnic armed groups and joined the alliance forces. Subsequently, he went to Russia and, in early October, joined a unit of the Russian Army's 58th Group after a month of training under Wagner instructors. He obtained the rank of private and was deployed to the front lines of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Zhao Rui was first sent to the front lines on November 11th, along with over 40 foreign soldiers. Due to the intense fighting, they quickly found themselves surrounded in a village, unable to leave. With almost depleted supplies, they witnessed Ukrainian tanks passing by, facing the imminent threat of annihilation. Fortunately, Russian reinforcements arrived in time, allowing them to return safely to the rear.

On November 29th, Zhao Rui and his comrades boarded an armored transport vehicle to participate in the battle near Zaporizhzhia. During the engagement, he was injured by a Ukrainian drone and eventually succumbed to excessive bleeding.

Among his companions were other Chinese individuals and Nepalese mercenaries.

In Zhao Rui's social media posts at that time, it was evident that the support provided by Russia to these foreign fighters was insufficient. Trained hastily, they were quickly sent to the front-line trenches without proper equipment, support, or stable communication devices. In Zhao Rui's final video message, he cautioned against recklessly going to the front lines, expressed longing for hometown delicacies, and hoped for the opportunity to return home soon.

However, on November 29th, Zhao Rui and his friends received new orders to be deployed to the front lines once again. By this time, Zhao Rui had realized the fate of being treated as cannon fodder, but it was too late. He made a final call to his family to arrange matters before ultimately becoming the first Chinese casualty in the war between Ukraine and Russia.
