SEGA's shooting game "Fantasy Zone" (ファンタジーゾーン) was initially released in arcades in 1986 and later ported to the SEGA Mega Drive in the same year. The game is set in the year 6216 in space, where there is a currency circulation issue between planets. The Space Guild discovers that someone is manipulating the Menon aliens to steal a significant amount of currency and use the funds to build fortresses in the fantasy space beyond. To ensure peace, the hero Opa-Opa embarks on an adventurous journey.

In the game, defeating enemies allows players to collect coins for purchasing weapons and engines. After each shopping spree, the prices automatically increase for the next round.

Key items include engines (Big Wings, Jet Engine, Turbo Engine, Rocket Engine), weapons (Wide Beam, Laser Beam, Seven-Way Shot Gun), bombs (Twin Bomb, Smart Bomb, Fire Bomb, Heavy Bomb), and secondary machines to enhance firepower.

The game consists of 8 stages: Plaleaf, Tabas, La Dune, Dolimicca, Polaria, Mockstar, Pocarius, and Salfar. It is necessary to defeat the boss of each stage to progress to the next one. Although there is no time limit, the screen continuously advances. The later ports of the game added more stages.
