Each character has basic melee attacks, but the core mechanic revolves around an energy gauge that allows players to charge and unleash powerful signature beam attacks. A key strategic element is the real-time character-switching system. Players can freely swap between unlocked Ultra Brothers during gameplay, which becomes essential when managing health and energy resources. Each character also has distinct strengths—Ultraseven excels at ranged attacks with his Eye Slugger, Ace specializes in powerful cutting beams, and Taro delivers high burst damage ideal for boss encounters. Throughout the stages, players can collect items marked with the “M78” symbol to restore health or energy, making careful movement and positioning crucial in chaotic combat situations.

Critically, the game was praised for its solid mechanics and faithful representation of the Ultraman universe. Reviewers highlighted its satisfying combat feel and well-balanced difficulty, noting that it avoided the frustration commonly found in earlier Ultraman titles.
