主要劇情與三國志相似，目標是統一中國，最終打倒曹操即可全破。遊戲開始前會有簡單的故事描述："漢朝正處於亂世，官吏的暴虐及壓榨，張角帶領的黃巾賊更是橫行霸道，使人民陷入苦難之中。這時北方的桑樓村有位青年叫劉備，字玄德。他日日憂國憂民，常希望有朝一日能為人民做事。" 字幕結束後正式開始遊戲。

按Select可查看個人的基本資料，戰鬥畫面時，由上左到下右的指令分別是攻擊、道具、秘策、防禦。

首先與母親對話後就可獲得150兩和一把傳家寶劍。然後前往西北方的小村討伐黃巾賊，進入後會遇到登茂和兩名黃巾賊。擊敗後回樓桑村找張士平，將有50名士兵加入。前往東南方的幽州城，再到左上方的小屋找到張飛，他會加入並帶100名士兵。移動到東邊的幽州村，在住宿旅館右上的小屋找到關羽，他也會加入並帶100名士兵。

這時回到樓桑村找母親，她表示宴會都準備好了，可以準備結義。移動到右上的席位，在桃樹下立誓起義。於是開始經典的旁白："劉備、關羽、張飛，我等三人不是同年同月同日生，但願同年同月同日死。" 這樣三人成為異姓兄弟，遊戲也正式拉開序幕。

Developed and published by Capcom, "Tenchi Wo Kurau" (天地を喰らう/Destiny of an Emperor /吞食天地) has a memory capacity of 2M. It is a modified and condensed version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) RPG, ported to the Game Boy platform. The unofficial Chinese version is titled "三國英雄傳" (Three Kingdoms Heroes).

The main storyline closely follows the development of the Three Kingdoms, with the goal of unifying China and ultimately defeating Cao Cao. The game begins with a simple narrative: "The Han Dynasty is in a chaotic era, with officials' tyranny and oppression, and the Yellow Turban Rebellion led by Zhang Jiao is rampant, causing suffering among the people. In the northern village of Sanglou, a young man named Liu Bei, also known as Xuan De, worries about the country and its people every day, hoping to do something for them." After the subtitles, the game officially commences.

Pressing Select allows you to view basic personal information. During battle, commands from top-left to bottom-right are Attack, Item, Tactic, and Defense.

Start by talking to your mother to receive 150 gold coins and an heirloom sword. Then head northwest to a small village to subdue the Yellow Turban rebels. Inside, you'll encounter Deng Mao and two Yellow Turban bandits. After defeating them, return to Sanglou Village to find Zhang Shiping, who will bring 50 soldiers to join your cause. Travel southeast to Youzhou City, then to the upper-left hut to meet Zhang Fei, adding him and 100 soldiers to your ranks. Move to the eastern Youzhou Village, find Guan Yu in the upper-right hut, and recruit him with another 100 soldiers.

Now, return to Sanglou Village and talk to your mother. She'll mention that the banquet is ready, and you can proceed to the upper-right seats. Under the peach tree, swear an oath of rebellion, marking the beginning of the classic dialogue: "Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, though we were not born on the same year, month, and day, let us die on the same year, month, and day." This marks the moment when the three become sworn brothers, and the game officially unfolds.
