《薩爾達傳說 夢見島》的劇情發生在《薩爾達傳說 眾神的三角神力》之後，是該系列的番外傳，因為銷售數字相當亮眼，任天堂在2019年的Switch平台發行重製版本。故事描述主角林克在旅行途中遇到暴風雨而發生船難，當他失去意識時，卻意外地漂流到庫洪林小島的海灘上，然後被一名女子瑪琳跟她的爸爸(酷似瑪莉歐)合力救起林克起來。當林克醒來後發現已經身在一間民房中，貓頭鷹告訴林克如果想要離開小島，就需要將沉睡的風之魚喚醒，於是新的冒險就此展開。遊戲一共有八大洞窟，最終需要在塔瑪拉克山頂上巨蛋吹起神笛，搭配其他樂器，就可以讓蛋碎開，最後關卡及Boss就會出現。長期對抗的敵人加儂將再次登場，取得勝利後吹起「風之魚之歌」時，小島上的所有一切就會開始消失。正當林克以為所有都是夢境的時候，風之魚正在天空飛過。玩家們在遊戲過程中都沒有死亡，愛慕著林克的女主角瑪琳會出現在最後結局中，以飛翔的方式告別。

整體操作跟SFC版的系列作品相當類似，血格碎片散落在各地，一開始有三顆心，等匯集起來全部的血格碎片，最多可以再增加14個血格。有三個檔案可進行存檔，A欄位通常是攻擊性武器，B欄位則是放守備型裝備。要設法取得更多的金幣，才能到商店補充藥草等，補給品的攜帶有數量上的限制 。GBC之後有推出重製版的《薩爾達傳說 夢見島DX》，追加了劇情跟照相屋，畫質跟音效品質也大幅提升。

The plot of "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" takes place after "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" and is considered a side story in the series. Due to its impressive sales figures, Nintendo released a remake of the game on the Switch platform in 2019. The story follows the protagonist, Link, who encounters a storm and shipwreck while traveling. When he loses consciousness, he unexpectedly drifts ashore on the beach of Koholint Island, where he is rescued by a girl named Marin and her father (resembling Mario). Upon waking up in a small house, Link is informed by an owl that to leave the island, he must awaken the slumbering Wind Fish. Thus, a new adventure begins.

The game features eight dungeons, culminating in the need to play the ocarina atop the giant egg at the summit of Tal Tal Mountain, accompanied by other instruments, to shatter the egg and reveal the final level and boss. The recurring enemy, Ganon, will once again make an appearance, and upon victory and playing the "Ballad of the Wind Fish," everything on the island will begin to disappear. Just as Link believes it was all a dream, the Wind Fish flies overhead. Players do not experience death throughout the game, and the female lead, Marin, who admires Link, will appear in the final ending, bidding farewell as she soars away.

The overall gameplay is quite similar to the SNES version of the series. Heart Pieces are scattered throughout, initially starting with three hearts, with the potential to gain up to 14 more by collecting all the heart pieces. There are three save files available, with the A slot typically reserved for offensive weapons and the B slot for defensive equipment. Players must acquire more rupees to purchase items such as medicine from shops, with limits on the quantity of supplies they can carry. Following the Game Boy Color release, a remastered version titled "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX" was released, which added additional plot elements and a photo studio, along with significantly improved graphics and sound quality.
