《變形金剛 THE GAME》(Transformers: The Game)是根據2007年好萊塢真人版電影《變形金剛》改編的動作遊戲,由Traveller's Tales開發、Activision發行,Wii版於2007年同步推出。將電影劇情轉化為可操作的第三人稱動作冒險,讓玩家能在「博派(Autobots)」與「狂派(Decepticons)」雙方陣營之間選擇,親身體驗兩方在地球上為「火種源(AllSpark)」展開激烈戰鬥的過程。

劇情方面,忠實還原電影的主要劇情骨幹,並補充一些額外原創橋段,能夠更完整地了解雙方勢力的行動與動機。在博派篇章中,擎天柱(Optimus Prime)、大黃蜂(Bumblebee)、鐵皮(Ironhide)等角色,保護人類並阻止狂派奪取火種源。狂派篇章則讓玩家化身威震天(Megatron)、紅蜘蛛(Starscream)、霸天虎(Barricade)等角色,肆虐城市、擊潰博派與人類勢力,力圖奪取火種源控制地球。兩個陣營的劇情互相平行,從不同視角敘述戰爭發展,最後分別走向各自的結局。

操作系統方面,Wii版本特別針對Wii遙控器與Nunchuk設計體感操作機制。角色移動與視角控制由Nunchuk搖桿與Wii遙控器的指向功能負責,攻擊與變形動作則透過擺動遙控器或按鍵觸發。可以自由切換機器人與載具形態,在城市、高速公路、軍事基地等開放式場景中自由探索與戰鬥。載具型態能提升移動速度與衝撞能力,而機器人型態則可進行近戰攻擊、射擊與投擲物件。遊戲內的破壞效果相當出色,幾乎所有場景物件都可摧毀或利用為武器,像是將汽車或路燈拔起投向敵人,增加不少破壞樂趣。

戰鬥上,除基本攻擊與射擊,還加入鎖定系統與特殊技能,部分BOSS戰需要配合體感動作完成擊倒指令。Wii版雖然操作直覺,但因為當時體感精度與反應有限,導致部分動作操作手感稍嫌生硬,特別是在快節奏戰鬥或需要準確瞄準時,容易出現誤差。不過,變形過程與巨大機械生命體的打擊感仍相當有臨場感,體驗博派與狂派交戰時的魄力。

在市場評價方面,整體表現屬於中規中矩。日本方面,Fami通給予Wii版24/40分,認為畫面與破壞場面有一定水準,但操作手感尚有改進空間,劇情與任務設計偏向單調,缺乏挑戰性。歐美媒體如IGN則給予7.6分,認為Wii版本在體感操作與機器人變形樂趣上具特色,但遊戲流程過於重複,AI與物理表現略顯粗糙,難以滿足資深動作玩家。GameSpot同樣給予6.0分,指出雖然破壞場景令人爽快,但任務設計缺乏多樣性,容易讓玩家感到單調乏味。

即便如此,對於變形金剛系列粉絲而言,仍具有一定收藏與遊玩價值,尤其能自由體驗雙陣營立場、變形成載具狂飆、參與經典角色戰鬥,對電影愛好者來說是補完式的互動體驗。尤其在當時變形金剛IP改編遊戲不多,能在家用機平台化身自己喜愛的角色,仍讓不少玩家感到興奮。整體而言,這是雖有缺陷但具娛樂性的電影改編作品,若不追求高操作性與深度玩法,而是希望體驗原作電影中的熱血戰場,仍能帶來短暫且熱鬧的娛樂樂趣。

Transformers: The Game is an action title based on the 2007 live-action Hollywood film Transformers. Developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Activision, the game was released for the Wii platform in 2007, alongside other console versions. This title transforms the film’s storyline into an interactive third-person action-adventure, allowing players to choose between the Autobots and the Decepticons, and personally experience their fierce battle on Earth over control of the powerful artifact known as the AllSpark.

The game's narrative stays faithful to the core events of the film while adding original story elements to provide a more complete understanding of each faction’s motives and actions. In the Autobots' campaign, players take on the roles of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, and other iconic characters, tasked with protecting humanity and preventing the Decepticons from seizing the AllSpark. The Decepticons' campaign, on the other hand, lets players step into the shoes of Megatron, Starscream, Barricade, and others, causing destruction in cities, crushing Autobots and human military forces alike, and striving to claim the AllSpark for dominion over Earth. The two parallel storylines unfold from opposing perspectives and lead to different conclusions for each side.

In terms of gameplay, the Wii version was specifically designed to utilize the Wii Remote and Nunchuk’s motion controls. The Nunchuk’s analog stick and the Wii Remote’s pointing feature handle movement and camera control, while attacks and transformations are executed by swinging the remote or pressing buttons. Players can freely switch between robot and vehicle modes, exploring and battling within open-ended environments such as cities, highways, and military bases. Vehicle forms offer enhanced speed and ramming capabilities, while robot forms allow for melee combat, shooting, and the use of environmental objects as weapons — for example, hurling cars or lamp posts at enemies, adding a satisfying layer of destructible interactivity.

 

Combat features basic attacks, ranged shooting, a lock-on system, and special abilities. Certain boss battles incorporate motion-based finishing moves that require players to perform specific gestures. While the Wii version’s control system feels intuitive, limitations in motion accuracy and responsiveness at the time made some actions feel stiff, especially during fast-paced battles or when precise aiming was needed. Despite these shortcomings, the transformation sequences and the weighty, mechanical impact of combat successfully capture the cinematic feel of massive robot warfare.

Reception-wise, Transformers: The Game achieved mixed results. In Japan, Famitsu awarded the Wii version a 24 out of 40, praising the visual quality and destructible environments, but criticizing the controls, repetitive missions, and lack of challenge. Western outlets like IGN gave it a 7.6, acknowledging the unique motion controls and the fun of transforming between robot and vehicle, while noting the repetitive gameplay, weak AI, and rough physics that held it back from fully satisfying seasoned action game fans. GameSpot rated it a 6.0, complimenting the thrill of citywide destruction but pointing out the uninspired mission design and repetitive objectives.

Despite its flaws, the game holds nostalgic value for fans of the Transformers franchise. It offered a rare chance at the time to play as both factions, freely transform and speed through environments, and participate in battles with beloved characters from the film. Particularly for movie enthusiasts, it served as an interactive extension of the cinematic experience. While not a masterpiece of its genre, it remains a fun, explosive licensed title best enjoyed for its spectacle and its faithfulness to the 2007 blockbuster’s atmosphere.
