自任天堂紅白機FC在80年代上市後，薩爾達傳說系列一直是重要的IP之一。2006年11月19日率先在北美Wii市場發行的《薩爾達傳說 曙光公主/塞爾達傳說 黃昏公主》（ゼルダの伝説 トワイライトプリンセス/The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess），之後同年的12月2日在Game Cube上市，是該系列的第十三款遊戲。由任天堂開發製作及發行，原本設定的名稱為《風之律動 2》。

《曙光公主》在上市後獲得許多專業玩家高度評價，並獲得許多專業雜誌評選為當年的最佳遊戲大獎。任天堂之後更在Wii U平台推出《薩爾達傳說 曙光公主 HD》，畫質及音效品質更是大幅改善，並增加支援amiibo的功能。就操作而言，Game Cube的設定較類似《風之律動》，Wii的版本只需要用遙控器就能操作，透過內建的擴音器可以聽到隱藏物件的提示聲響。

故事設定在《薩爾達傳說 穆修拉的假面》完結後的數百年，人們原本以為和平會永遠的維持下去，沒想到「曙光領域」的平行宇宙正打算吞噬海拉魯大陸。林克平日在奧登村飼養著羊群，沒想到某日布布林族(Bulblin)忽然對寧靜的村莊展開攻擊，還擄走許多孩子。當林克展開追逐時，卻意外地進入曙光領域（Twilight Realm），在變身成狼後碰到影之族人米多納(Midna)。

兩人一同找到薩爾達公主後才得知，原來海拉魯城已經被曙光之王贊德(Zant)所控制，先需要到森林神殿、哥隆礦坑、湖底神殿收集米多納的影之結晶（Fused Shadow）後挑戰贊德，沒想到要取得大師之劍才能有足夠的力量與其對抗。而隨著劇情的演變才發現，原來曙光公主真實的身分就是米多納，之前被贊德與加儂多夫聯手才變成精靈的狀態。為了讓和平再次降臨，林克踏上冒險的旅途。

Since the launch of the Nintendo Famicom (FC) in the 1980s, the Legend of Zelda series has been one of its most important IPs. Released first in North America for the Wii on November 19, 2006, "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" (ゼルダの伝説 トワイライトプリンセス) later became available for the GameCube on December 2 of the same year. This was the thirteenth game in the series, developed and published by Nintendo. The initial working title was "Wind Waker 2."

"Twilight Princess" received high praise from professional players upon release and was awarded Game of the Year by several gaming magazines. Nintendo later released "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" for the Wii U, which featured significantly improved graphics and sound quality, along with support for amiibo functionality. In terms of controls, the GameCube version is more similar to "Wind Waker," while the Wii version allows players to use the remote, with built-in speakers providing audio cues for hidden objects.

The story is set several hundred years after "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask." People believed that peace would last forever, but the parallel universe of the Twilight Realm was preparing to engulf Hyrule. Link, who normally tends to a flock of sheep in Ordon Village, finds his quiet village suddenly attacked by the Bulblin tribe, who kidnap many children. As Link pursues them, he inadvertently enters the Twilight Realm, transforming into a wolf and meeting Midna, a member of the Twili.

Together, they find Princess Zelda and learn that Hyrule Castle has been taken over by Zant, the King of Twilight. To defeat Zant, they must first collect the Fused Shadows from the Forest Temple, Goron Mines, and Lakebed Temple. It becomes apparent that only the Master Sword has enough power to challenge Zant. As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Midna is actually the true Twilight Princess, transformed into her current form by Zant and Ganondorf. To restore peace, Link embarks on an epic adventure.
