《源平討魔傳》（源平討魔伝）是1986年由南夢宮所製作發行的街機，1988年10月21日移植到FC的遊戲正式上市。FC版與當年由Konami推出的《月風魔傳》相比，無論是畫面還是角色設定都相當相似，但採用RPG模式進行。PCE版本則貼近街機。

主角是歷史上源平之戰時代的平景清，是平忠清之子，又稱藤原景清。蠟燭代表生命力，需要注意來自四面八方的攻擊，每個關卡都是對玩家技術的一種挑戰。

故事發生在西元1192年，源賴朝率領黑暗勢力征服日本，平家全軍覆沒並沉入壇之湖。為防止混亂持續，天帝派遣三途川的渡船夫安駄婆挑選最強的亡靈，於是平家武士平景清就此登場。受到召喚後，先從地獄復活，出發前被安駄婆特別叮嚀，需要取得玉、劍、鏡子的神器三種，沿途要保持正義心靈並有堅定信仰。

遊戲共有48個關卡，包括地獄和黃泉之國。畫面採用橫向模式、巨大模式和平面模式。在黃泉之國，要順利離開，必須在命運籤箱中抽到"生"，抽到"死"則遊戲結束。

在橫向模式中，紫玉或劍能增強劍力，但劍會減少金錢10。綠玉是錢。青玉或糧草能增加命，但糧草會減少金錢10。茶玉能增加生命的最大值。

在巨大模式中，紫玉增強劍力，綠玉增加錢，青玉恢復生命。在平面模式中，三種柳條箱分別增加劍力、金錢和生命。拿到蠟燭能增加最大生命值，同時補充生命。得到畫捲後可使用衝擊波和旋風劍。毒菇會減少生命，菖蒲能獲得愛和分數。看到Namcot的角色是特別獎金。

三種神器包括使毒菇無效的八坂瓊曲玉，讓鏡子反射光線的八咫鏡及斬斷強硬物體不耗損劍力的草薙劍（天叢雲劍）。

遊戲允許無限次數的接關，但每次失敗，抽中"死"的機率就會增加。若抽到"生"再次闖關，會回到初期數據，難度大幅提升。

在橫向模式中陷入洞穴或其他陷阱時會落入黃泉之國。如果手上有70以上的金錢，進入血池可直接跳到京師。

一開始需要通過兩階段的地獄才能復活回現世。到達長門時會出現岔路，包括位於上方最困難的山陰道、中間普通難度中的山陽道和下方最容易的南海道。最好在攝津取得曲玉，否則必須到伊勢才會再次出現。

最後的關卡是鎌倉，最終頭目賴朝會以三個階段變身。面對第二個分身時，先以上段斬殺破壞他發射出來的子彈，同時進行砍斬。最終真身出現時，採用同樣模式攻擊即可。

"Genpei Tōma Den" (源平討魔伝) is an arcade game produced and released by Namco in 1986. It was officially ported to the Famicom (FC) platform on October 21, 1988. In comparison to Konami's "Getsu Fūma Den" released in the same era, both the visuals and character settings of "Genpei Tōma Den" are quite similar, but it adopts an RPG mode. The PC Engine (PCE) version closely resembles the arcade version.

The protagonist is Minamoto no Yoshikiyo, known as Taira no Kagekiyo, during the historical Genpei War era. He is the son of Taira no Tadakiyo, also known as Fujiwara no Kagekiyo. Candles represent life force, and players need to be vigilant against attacks from all directions as each level poses a challenge to the player's skills.

The story is set in the year 1192 AD, where the dark forces led by Minamoto no Yoshitsune conquer Japan. The Taira clan is defeated, and they sink into the Lake Biwa. To prevent continued chaos, the celestial emperor dispatches An Dajiao, a ferryman from the Sanzu River, to select the strongest undead warrior from the Taira clan. Thus, Taira samurai Minamoto no Yoshikiyo is resurrected from hell. Before setting out, An Dajiao specifically instructs him to obtain three legendary artifacts: the Jade, the Sword, and the Mirror. Along the way, Yoshikiyo must maintain a just heart and unwavering faith.

The game features a total of 48 levels, including Hell and the Land of Yomi. The screen adopts horizontal mode, giant mode, and flat mode. To successfully leave the Land of Yomi, players must draw "Life" from the fortune-telling box; drawing "Death" results in game over.

In horizontal mode, obtaining the Purple Jewel or Sword enhances sword power, but the sword reduces money by 10. The Green Jewel represents money, and the Blue Jewel or provisions increase health, but provisions decrease money by 10. The Tea Jewel increases the maximum health.

In giant mode, the Purple Jewel enhances sword power, the Green Jewel increases money, and the Blue Jewel restores health. In flat mode, there are three types of willow boxes that respectively increase sword power, money, and health. Getting a candle increases the maximum health and replenishes health. After obtaining the scroll, players can use shockwaves and whirlwind attacks. Poison mushrooms decrease health, while sweet flags provide love and score points. Seeing Namcot characters grants special bonuses.

The three artifacts include the Yasakani Magatama, which nullifies poison mushrooms, the Yata no Kagami, which reflects light, and the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi (Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi), a sword that cuts through hard objects without consuming sword power.

The game allows an infinite number of continues, but with each failure, the probability of drawing "Death" increases. If drawing "Life" upon continuing, players return to the initial data, significantly raising the difficulty.

In horizontal mode, falling into a cave or other trap leads to the Land of Yomi. If holding more than 70 gold, entering the blood pool allows players to directly jump to the capital.

To resurrect and return to the living world, players need to pass through two stages of hell initially. Upon reaching Nagato, players encounter a fork in the road, with the difficult Sanyindō path above, the average difficulty Sanyōdō path in the middle, and the easiest Nankaidō path below. It is advisable to obtain the Yasakani Magatama in Settsu; otherwise, players have to reach Ise to find it again.

The final level is Kamakura, where the ultimate boss Yoshitsune transforms through three stages. When facing the second clone, players should first destroy the bullets he shoots while simultaneously engaging in slashing attacks. When the final true form appears, use the same attack pattern to emerge victorious.
