This is especially true when the lettuce is not properly washed or comes from questionable sources. Roundworms are common intestinal parasites, and their eggs can be found in contaminated soil or irrigation water. If the lettuce isn’t thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, these eggs may be ingested along with the food.
