Cambodian conglomerate Prince Group and its head, Chen Zhi, have become the target of a major international law enforcement operation due to allegations of transnational telecom fraud, money laundering, and forced labor, with their global assets subjected to large-scale freezing and seizure. The case reached a significant milestone on November 4, 2025, when Taiwanese prosecutors conducted a raid on Prince Group’s local offices, arresting 25 suspects and seizing assets worth NT$4.527 billion, including 11 luxury residences, 26 high-end vehicles, and 60 bank accounts. On the same day, Hong Kong authorities froze HK$2.75 billion in assets, covering cash, stocks, and investment funds.

The origins of the case trace back several years. In December 2020, a Bitcoin wallet controlled by Chen Zhi was hacked, resulting in the theft of approximately 127,000 BTC, which were later believed to have been confiscated by the U.S. government. On October 14, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice formally filed criminal charges against Chen Zhi and announced the seizure of these 127,000 BTC, valued at around US$15 billion at the time. Concurrently, the U.S., in coordination with the U.K., sanctioned 146 affiliated entities of Prince Group and froze 19 properties in London, with a total value of US$172 million.

Subsequently, on October 30, 2025, Singapore authorities seized six properties, one yacht, and 11 luxury vehicles linked to Prince Group, freezing assets totaling over SG$150 million (approximately RMB 820 million). On November 3, 2025, South Korean police conducted raids on fraud networks affiliated with Prince Group, arresting 114 individuals and investigating cases involving KRW 6.9 billion (around RMB 34 million).

Finally, on November 4, 2025, Taiwan and Hong Kong simultaneously carried out enforcement actions, seizing NT$4.5 billion (approximately RMB 1.03 billion) in Taiwan and HK$2.75 billion (approximately RMB 2.52 billion) in Hong Kong. This coordinated multi-national law enforcement operation underscores the severity of transnational financial crime and demonstrates global determination to combat money laundering, telecom fraud, and forced labor. The case also provides a new practical example of cross-border asset tracing and judicial cooperation. Beyond the massive financial losses, it serves as a profound warning for financial security, legal enforcement, and corporate governance across Asia and the world.
