2001年9月,由盛大代理的韓國遊戲《傳奇》在中國爆紅,短短一年內線上人數就突破60萬。這股受歡迎的風潮使盛大老闆陳天橋在2005年成為中國首富。
2002年9月底,由九城代理的《奇蹟MU》展開公測,以其華麗的畫面和酷炫的技能大受歡迎,截至2003年年終,創下高達2.7億人民幣的收入。
2003年11月,網易自行研發的《夢幻西遊》正式上線,持續營運超過14年,至今仍是全球收入最高的前十大網路遊戲之一。
2005年5月,音樂遊戲《勁舞團》上線,以其酷炫的畫面和優質的背景音樂成功吸引眾多女性玩家,兩年後同時在線的人數超過80萬人,成為當年的爆款網遊之一。

In late September 2002, the game "Miracle MU," represented by Nine City, started its open beta test. With its gorgeous graphics and cool skills, it achieved significant success, generating an income of up to 270 million RMB by the end of 2003.
In November 2003, NetEase launched the self-developed game "Fantasy Westward Journey," which officially went online. It continued to operate for over 14 years and remains one of the top-grossing online games globally.
In May 2005, the music game "Audition" went live. With its cool graphics and high-quality background music, it successfully attracted many female players. Two years later, the concurrent online players exceeded 800,000, making it one of the hit online games of that year.
In April 2005, the Chinese version of "World of Warcraft" went online. On the day of public testing, more than 500,000 players joined, creating a historical record in online gaming and establishing itself as the king of multiplayer online games.
