在台灣電影《周處除三害》在中國熱映的同時，主角陳桂林的真實原型人物劉煥榮也引發討論。當年，劉煥榮涉及多起槍擊案，是十大槍擊要犯中的榜首，身上背負著14條人命，受害者大多是黑幫老大。當他確定要被執行槍決時，許多受他恩惠的老百姓極力奔走，希望政府能給予特赦。然而，法院最終仍維持原判。

While some people believed that the gang bosses he shot had deserved their fate, the court upheld the original judgment. When he entered the courtroom, he shouted "Long live the Republic of China" and donated his organs for the benefit of others.
