It was later discovered that Mizuhara impersonated Ohtani to confirm transfer transactions with banks, embezzling over $16 million. The indictment revealed that Mizuhara placed over 19,000 bets from December 2021 to January 2024, averaging at least 25 bets per day, ranging from $10 USD to $160,000 UDS, accumulating winnings of $140 million USD. However, the losses exceeded $180 million UDS, with losses exceeding $40 million USD.

Subsequently, Mizuhara, facing debt collection, began to evade contacts from the loan sharks. As a result, they tracked Ohtani and sent text messages to Mizuhara, stating they saw Ohtani walking his dog and planned to ask him how to contact Mizuhara.
