This year, Tyler Glasnow, the ace pitcher traded from the Rays to the Dodgers, mentioned in a recent interview the news regarding potential gambling involvement by Shohei Ohtani. He stated that when this news emerged, his teammates believed in Ohtani's innocence. In fact, Ohtani promptly handed over his phone and expressed full cooperation with the investigation. Subsequently, the team began to suspect Mizuhara Ippei of fraud and embezzlement from Ohtani's account.

According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), it was revealed that Ohtani's salary account, opened in March 2018, had been inactive for over three years. However, after  Mizuhara's involvement in gambling, the account was accessed for the first time. Glasnow mentioned that most players typically do not check their accounts themselves but instead entrust them to trusted individuals for handling.

Investigators reviewed 9700 pages of phone messages between Ohtani and Mizuhara from 2020 to 2024 and found no discussions of sports gambling or organized crime. Ohtani also did not issue any instructions regarding the secret salary account, once again proving Mizuhara's dishonesty.
