4月3日,花蓮發生芮氏規模7.2的地震,最終導致17人死亡,另有2人失蹤。傾斜的天王星大樓也在17日完成所有的拆除作業。然而,後續的餘震仍在持續。22日傍晚,多次地震規模達到5以上。23日凌晨,又一次發生規模超過6以上的地震,造成統帥大樓與富凱飯店傾斜。
