Softmap:
Located at Japan's JR station, Akihabara is a world-renowned hub for anime and gaming. Visiting here feels like stepping into an anime world. If you have the chance to visit, be sure to check out these stores:
Radio Kaikan: A 10-story building filled with shops selling anime-related merchandise. Prices may not always be the most affordable, but the selection is extensive.
Akihabara Gachapon Kaikan: Equipped with around 500 gachapon machines, with over 50 new items updated every month.
Yodobashi Camera: A long-established electronics store where you can find a variety of electronics, electronic products, cosmetics, and games.
Surugaya: Initially an online store specializing in buying and reselling second-hand goods. Currently, there are three physical stores in Akihabara, each operating as large-scale department stores. New items like One Piece and Dragon Ball are sold at branch stores. They also have a branch in Ximending, Taiwan.
Kusō no Kikakukan: Specializes in selling robot models.
Softmap: Mainly sells new games and occasionally offers limited edition items.
Super Potato: Sells a variety of vintage game cartridges. You can find many rare treasures here, but prices are not cheap. There are three floors, each dedicated to different items: second-hand old games like Famicom and Super Famicom, handheld consoles (Game & Watch), Japanese guides, PlayStation, and the top floor features various arcade machines. There is also a branch in Osaka, though it is not as large as the one in Akihabara.
Mandarake: A must-visit spot, with entire buildings in Akihabara dedicated to rare anime sketches, models, games, and manga. The first floor is for purchasing items from sellers. The company originally established itself in Nakano, which also has a large store. From Nakano Station, it’s a 10-minute walk straight to the Mandarake in Nakano, where almost the entire building is occupied by their shops.
