當時，兇手爬到離造勢看台約118公尺外的工廠屋頂進行開火，使用AK式步槍發射8發子彈。在現場民眾的指引下，狙擊手很快就將他擊斃。目前，警方已針對犯案動機進行了解，並調查背後是否有人指使。

川普的團隊發表聲明表示，目前川普情況穩定，並且已經出院。
