On August 29, 2024, the Dodgers hosted a fan appreciation event at their home stadium, where they handed out bobbleheads of Shohei Ohtani and his dog, Decoy. Fans began lining up as early as 11 AM to purchase tickets and secure this limited-edition bobblehead. The highlight of the event was Decoy serving as the ceremonial first-pitch guest. After three weeks of training, the dog carried the ball in its mouth and quickly ran towards Ohtani at home plate, adding a fun and delightful element to the celebration.

In the game against the Orioles, Ohtani faced Cy Young-winning pitcher Burnes and hit his 42nd home run of the season in his first at-bat. Ohtani had an outstanding performance in August, achieving the impressive feat of 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases, becoming the eighth player in MLB history to reach this milestone, following last year’s Braves player Acuña. Additionally, Ohtani successfully stole a base later in the game, making him the second player in history, after Rodriguez, to achieve 42 home runs and 42 stolen bases. Ohtani’s performance continues to push him closer to becoming the first player in history to achieve 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season.
