《妖怪道中記》是日本Namco於1987年推出的動作遊戲之一，最早在街機上亮相。後來移植至紅白機、PC Engine以及Wii的Virtual Console平台，然而街機版與後來移植的作品有相當大的差異。

故事描述在古代的日本，有一位名叫太郎助的孩子，經常在村內惹事生非，讓當地居民感到頭疼。有一天，太郎助醒來，發現自己身處在十八層地獄。原來，由於他長期調皮搗蛋，引起極大的民怨，激怒了天神們，導致被打入地獄世界。為返回人間，主角需要打倒各種妖怪，通過閻羅王的審判，利用妖怪念力展開冒險，踏上回家之路。

遊戲總共有五個關卡。第一關是地獄入口，頭目是紅鬼。會先詢問是否支付一萬兩就可以過關。但是選擇支付後，錢就會被吸光，移動到神像後呼喚自己的靈魂，並使用除妖咒自動追擊貼近的敵人。

第二關是苦行之道，後端會看到幾朵雲。只要順利跳到雲的另一邊就能發現正在洗澡的仙女，會獲得贈送的愛心。這是一個很好的道具．當沒有血量的時候會自動補滿。頭目是青鬼，這次開價兩萬兩。如果支付就能真的通過。

第三關是幽海，後期會碰到三個孩子在欺負一隻海龜。需要支付三萬兩給小孩才能拯救海龜。如果金額不夠就需重新挑戰關卡。海龜會帶主角前往龍宮與公主見面。這時候公主會跳舞做為答謝，然後收到寶箱。如果連續三次對話都不打開就能取得一萬兩。若打開就會變成老頭，需要在第四關初期就買秘藥恢復原狀。

在第四關的最後地方會發現左邊有一道門，進入後可以重新挑戰第四關。難纏的三之妖怪在第二輪就會消失。舞台的最右邊終點會看到奈河。用之前收集的三個妖怪之魂就能通過並與閻羅王碰面。

第五關是輪回界，沿路只有小青蛙、小妖怪跟金錢。玩家在遊戲中的表現將決定故事的結局。共有5個結局，包括進入天界、回到人間、擊敗畜生界、進入餓鬼界或陷入地獄界。

如果沒有殺怪跟撿錢則是上天堂。殺怪+撿錢次數介於1~4，會有機會重新投胎。殺怪跟撿錢數加起來總是不超過8(含)會轉世為畜牲。殺怪+撿錢數不超過12(含)。殺怪數加上撿錢數超過13(含)會留在地獄。

"Yokai Douchuuki" is one of the action games released by Namco in Japan in 1987, initially debuting in arcades. It was later ported to platforms such as the Famicom, PC Engine, and Wii's Virtual Console. However, there are significant differences in configuration and background between the arcade version and subsequent ports.

The story revolves around a mischievous child named Tarojirou in ancient Japan, causing trouble in the village. One day, Tarojirou wakes up to find himself in the 18 layers of hell. His long history of mischief has stirred great resentment among the local residents, enraging the heavenly gods, leading to his descent into the underworld. To return to the human world, the protagonist must defeat various yokai, undergo judgment by Enma, and embark on an adventure using yokai psychic powers to find his way home.

The game consists of five levels. The first level is the entrance to hell, with the boss being the Red Oni. He will inquire whether you want to pay ten thousand ryo to pass. Choosing to pay will result in your money being drained, moving to a statue, calling upon your soul, and automatically pursuing nearby enemies using an exorcism curse.

The second level is the Path of Austerity, where you'll encounter clouds in the background. Successfully jumping to the other side of the clouds reveals a bathing fairy who grants you a heart as a gift. This item automatically restores all health when you have none. The boss is the Blue Oni, with an asking price of twenty thousand ryo. Paying this amount allows you to progress.

The third level is the Sea of Ghosts. Later on, you'll come across three children bullying a turtle. To save the turtle, you need to pay thirty thousand ryo to the children. If the amount is insufficient, you'll need to retry the level. The turtle will then take you to the Dragon Palace to meet the princess. She will dance as a thank you, and you'll receive a treasure chest. If you open it three times in a row without success, you'll receive ten thousand ryo. If opened, you'll transform into an old man unless you buy a secret medicine to restore your original state in the early stages of the fourth level.

In the last area of the fourth level, you'll find a door on the left side. Entering it allows you to replay the fourth level. The troublesome Sanuki in the second round will disappear. At the end of the stage, you'll see the Naiagara. Using the three yokai souls collected earlier, you can pass through and meet King Enma.

The fifth level is the Realm of Reincarnation, with only small frogs, little yokai, and money along the way. The player's performance throughout the game determines the story's ending. There are a total of five endings, including entering heaven, returning to the human realm, defeating the animal realm, entering the hungry ghost realm, or falling into hell.

If you don't kill yokai or collect money, you go to heaven. Killing yokai and collecting money between 1 and 4 times gives you a chance to be reborn. If the sum of killing yokai and collecting money is 8 or less, you become an animal. If the sum is not more than 12, you stay in the animal realm. If the sum exceeds 13, you remain in hell.
