The game was released globally in August 2020 for PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. By 2026, a complete edition including all downloadable content has been made available across platforms, offering the most comprehensive version of the experience. It is categorized as a music action-adventure game, but its defining feature lies in how it blends rhythmic elements directly into real-time combat rather than functioning as a traditional rhythm game.

The story takes place in a futuristic metropolis called Vinyl City, where electricity is generated entirely through music. However, the city’s music industry is monopolized by an EDM empire known as NSR, which suppresses all other genres. The protagonists are members of an indie rock band called Bunk Bed Junction—Mayday, a guitarist, and Zuke, a drummer. Frustrated by the dominance of electronic music, they launch a “rock revolution” to challenge NSR’s ruling artists and restore musical diversity to the city.

In terms of gameplay, the title’s most distinctive feature is its rhythm-based combat system. Enemy attacks and environmental changes are synchronized with the background music. While players are not required to hit precise beats to perform actions, understanding the rhythm greatly improves timing for dodging and counterattacks. The two main characters offer different playstyles: Mayday specializes in heavy attacks and can transform environmental objects into offensive tools, while Zuke focuses on fast combos and support abilities. The game supports both solo play, where players switch between characters, and local co-op for a more dynamic experience. Additionally, a progression system allows players to gain fans and unlock new abilities, enhancing combat versatility.

Critically, the game received high praise for its art direction and music. Its visuals combine street art, punk aesthetics, and futuristic design, creating a bold and memorable identity. The soundtrack is a major highlight, especially during boss battles where rock and EDM dynamically clash, reinforcing the game’s central theme. As a Southeast Asian-developed title, it also stands out for its unique creative voice and its commentary on the commercialization and monopolization of music culture.

However, the gameplay received mixed feedback. On one hand, its forgiving design makes it accessible even to players without strong rhythm skills. On the other hand, some players felt that the 3D combat space occasionally made rhythm timing less intuitive, and that the overall combat depth could become repetitive over time.
