在超任發行的弁慶外傳-沙之章，是PCE版本的續作，劇情卻是完全獨立。遊戲有大量的漢字，讓玩家們玩起來比較不會太吃力，可惜之後無相關作品。一開始遊戲畫面就會解說古代的歷史，在文永十一年(西元1274年)，在鐮倉建都後的82年，在各地征戰的蒙古大軍已經統治中國並建立元朝，準備觸角伸入日本。於是派三萬三千人的兵力及九百艘軍艦，以壓倒性的軍事力量佔領了九州．博多。這時候忽然出現的暴風雨讓蒙古軍受到毀滅性的重創，歷史上史稱"文永之役"。元朝皇帝忽必烈發現此暴風雨乃是古代咒法所造成，於是派出四界將之一的"咒魂"到日本。日本的將軍時宗緊急召集全國法力者，準備迎戰咒魂跟旗下的咒界眾，但法力者們卻紛紛落敗。平泉和戰結束後， "源義經"及"武藏坊弁慶"，也戰死了八十多年……….

時間來到"文永之役"之後的兩年，在四國的才藏部屋內，忍者從屋頂躍下，表示天皇命令才藏展開行動，並囑咐要小心潛伏在附近的刺客。於是才藏要不動準備動身前往京都拜會天皇。先到右邊的五個寶箱，選指令調查，就能全部開啟，再到右邊的和尚交談後存談，最多能存三個檔案。走出部屋後，會看到村內正中央聳立一根弁慶之碑，可以恢復全體血量跟法力。走出村莊後，天空閃起數道閃電，在回到村莊內發現弁慶之碑已經被損毀。這時一位名叫羅觀的人出現，表示受到沙之血所吸引到此，並用"八方外法陣"控制該區。

走出村外就直接到"八方外法陣"，到地下三階就會再次碰到羅觀，他表示為了未來，需要對不動進行試驗。於是不動體內的沙之血力量覺醒，級數會提升到50，不斷使用法術裂光斬就能擊敗羅觀。這時候級數就會恢復正常，並被贈與金剛劍．鬼龍。玩家最終的目標就是要擊敗忽必烈。

遊戲的副畫面會出現劇情的主要四位人物，不動、巳陰、常由及鳴沙(全部最高級數為80)，之後會加入的夥伴有忍(最高級數30)跟白蓮(最高級數80)。主角不動的性別可選男或女，如果想要創造名字的字體，可以選作字。選男性的話攻擊與防禦力較強，女性則是速度、法力跟精神力較強。須注意雖然不動最高級數是80，需要152萬的經驗值，但如果真的練到77級，就可能造成遊戲當機，跟紅白機的吞食天地一樣，級數破表就會產生bug。

在地圖畫面看到白光閃點，就是目前所在的位置，粉紅色則標示各個城鎮及關卡。主要指令有1.力 2.裝備 3.法術 4.隊列 5.道具 6.調查。戰鬥時的主要指令有1.攻擊 2.遁走 3.法術 4.道具。不動會陸續學到的法術有魔破、魔破渦、冷鎖、冷破陣、軌炎、軌炎陣、翔雷、散豪雷、裂光斬等。不動跟鳴沙最強的法力是裂光斬，巳陰跟常由的終極法力分別是鬼招咒跟至天法魔光翔。不動有特殊的指令"一齊"，可以進行一次性的集體攻擊。巳陰則是防禦，當自己被擊中，只會造成一成的傷害或是零。常由是守護，使用後會幫其他同伴擋攻擊，造成的傷害只有五分之一或是零。

遊戲充滿濃濃的東洋風，指令跟劇情有許多漢字，讓玩家相當容易上手，外傳有針對前作進行部分改良，整體畫質跟音效品質大幅提升。當年並沒有推出海外版或續作，畫面跟流暢度都相當不錯，是一款高水準的RPG作品。

In the "Benzaiten Monogatari - Sun Chapter," released on the Super Famicom, it is a sequel to the PC Engine version, but the storyline is entirely independent. The game features a significant amount of Chinese characters, making it easier for players to engage with. Unfortunately, no related works followed. At the beginning of the game, the screen explains the ancient history. In the 82nd year after the establishment of Kamakura in the 11th year of Bun'ei (AD 1274), the Mongol army, which had been conquering various regions, had already ruled China and established the Yuan Dynasty, preparing to extend its influence to Japan. They sent an overwhelming force of 33,000 troops and 900 warships, occupying Kyushu and Hakata. Suddenly, a devastating storm appeared, causing the Mongol army to suffer catastrophic losses, a historical event known as the "Bun'ei no Eki." Emperor Kublai Khan of the Yuan Dynasty discovered that the storm was caused by ancient curses, so he sent one of the "Curse Souls," a "Jumon," to Japan. The Shogun of Japan, Tokimune, urgently summoned magic users from across the country to prepare for the battle against Jumon and its followers, but the magic users were defeated one after another. After the Battle of Hiraizumi, "Minamoto no Yoshitsune" and "Benkei of Musashibō" also perished, more than eighty years ago....

Fast forward two years after the "Bun'ei no Eki," inside the Tazukura room in Shikoku, a ninja jumps down from the roof, stating that the Emperor has ordered Tazukura to take action and warned to be cautious of assassins lurking nearby. Tazukura, ready to set out for Kyoto, checks the five chests on the right. After investigating, all chests can be opened. Then, he talks to the monk on the right and saves the conversation, allowing up to three save files. After leaving the room, a monument of Benkei stands in the center of the village, restoring the entire team's health and magic. Upon leaving the village, the sky flashes with lightning. Upon returning to the village, Tazukura discovers that the Benkei monument has been damaged. At this moment, a person named Rokan appears, claiming to be attracted by the blood of the Sun, using the "Happo Waihōjin" to control the area.

Heading outside the village directly to the "Happo Waihōjin," reaching the third basement, Rokan is encountered again. He states that, for the future, an experiment on Tazukura is necessary. Thus, the power of the Sun's blood within Tazukura awakens, raising the level to 50. Continuously using the spell "Ryukōzan" can defeat Rokan. At this point, the level will return to normal, and the player will be gifted the Vajra Sword, Koryū. The ultimate goal for the player is to defeat Kublai Khan.

The secondary screen of the game shows the main four characters of the story: Tazukura, Mio, Tokiyoshi, and Narisa (all with a maximum level of 80). Later, two companions will join: Shinobi (maximum level 30) and Hakuren (maximum level 80). The protagonist Tazukura's gender can be selected as male or female. If choosing male, the attack and defense power will be stronger; for female, speed, magic, and mental power will be stronger. It is essential to note that although the maximum level for Tazukura is 80, requiring 1.52 million experience points, if trained to level 77, it may cause the game to crash. Just like the glitch in the Famicom game "The Adventure of Link," exceeding the level limit can result in a bug.

On the map screen, a white light spot indicates the current location, and pink marks represent towns and stages. The primary commands include 1. Power, 2. Equipment, 3. Magic, 4. Team, 5. Items, 6. Investigation. The main commands during battles are 1. Attack, 2. Retreat, 3. Magic, 4. Items. Tazukura will gradually learn spells such as Maha, Maha Uzu, Reiki, Rekiho, Kien, Kienho, Shōrai, Sango Rai, and Retsugōzan. The most potent spell for Tazukura and Mio is Retsugōzan, while for Tokiyoshi and Narisa, the ultimate spells are Kihōjū and Shitenpō Hakumenshō. Tazukura has a special command, "All Together," allowing a one-time collective attack. Tokiyoshi is in charge of defense, receiving only 1% or zero damage when hit. Narisa is the guardian; after using it, she will protect other companions from attacks, causing only 20% or zero damage.

The game is filled with a strong Eastern atmosphere, with many Chinese characters in commands and storyline, making it easy for players to pick up. The side story has made some improvements compared to its predecessor, with significantly improved overall graphics and sound quality. Although no overseas version or sequel was released at that time, the visuals and smoothness were quite good, making it a high-quality RPG.
