有主線角色分別是瑪利歐外、Peach、Yoshi、大金剛和壞利歐，五位人物集合後其他的NPC人物才會持續加入。當完成最後的庫巴關卡後，就會開啟隱藏的迷你遊戲，需要再次打贏庫巴，才會出現真正的結局。操作容易的瑪利歐棒球，只需要用搖控手把就可以投球或是打擊，最多可以有4位玩家同場較勁，可一對電腦或是二對二或全部對電腦。除了主角瑪利歐外，其它角色有大小金剛、庫巴、壞利歐及路易等固定班底。 

總共有9種小遊戲及9種不同環境的棒球場，而每個人都有其特殊技能，不論是打擊或投球，稍微停頓後再出手，就可以增強運動爆發力。當球快進本累時，抓住時間點揮動遙控器，並有機會出現安打。路易擁有龍捲風打擊技能，瑪莉歐火焰打擊則會讓任何野手碰到球就燙傷。不同比賽環境及日夜間開賽，也會對選手造成影響。

There are main characters including Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Wario. Once these five characters are gathered, other NPCs will continuously join. After completing the final Bowser level, a hidden mini-game will be unlocked. You must defeat Bowser again to see the true ending. The easy-to-control "Mario Baseball" allows you to pitch and bat using just the remote control, with up to four players competing simultaneously. You can play one-on-one against the computer, two-on-two, or all players against the computer. In addition to Mario, other characters include Donkey Kong, Bowser, Wario, and Luigi, among other regulars.

There are a total of nine mini-games and nine different baseball stadium environments. Each character has unique skills for both batting and pitching. Pausing slightly before making a move can enhance their athletic performance. When the ball approaches the base, timing the swing of the remote control can result in a hit. Luigi has a tornado batting skill, while Mario's flame batting will burn any fielder who touches the ball. The different game environments and day and night settings also affect the players.
