The story takes place in a heavenly realm called "Yanato," where a princess named Sakuna Hime resides. She is the daughter of the God of Harvest and has inherited her father's warrior bloodline, granting her formidable combat abilities. However, her personality is lazy and impatient, and she lives a leisurely life with no responsibilities. One day, due to a war in the mortal world, there is a shortage of food, and a few mortals cross a celestial bridge to reach the heavenly realm.

Sakuna Hime unintentionally damages the storage of offerings while trying to capture these people, leading to her being blamed by the divine spirit tree. She is then banished to the heavenly place known as "Hinoe Island" along with the mortals who entered the heavenly realm. They must investigate the truth behind the rampage of demon clans on the island.

The game's visuals primarily consist of 3D farming simulation life and side-scrolling combat. Players can level up their characters and abilities by cultivating rice. Additionally, they can obtain ingredients and trade with the heavenly realm. During the cultivation process, players need to handle irrigation and fertilization while guarding against pests.

Apart from farming, players need to hunt to ensure they have enough food for self-sufficiency and to share with companions. As the levels increase, players can unlock various combat skills and feathered garment techniques. Consuming meals once a day grants specific temporary ability effects. The in-game time simulates a year with four seasons, each having three days, and the changes in seasons and day-night cycles affect the growth of rice.
