故事發生在波普之星一如往常的悠閒午後。卡比正在雲朵上安穩午睡,卻被匆匆路過的瓦豆魯迪驚醒。卡比正困惑地眺望時,帝帝帝大王也抱著奇怪的物品急忙經過,並落向噗噗噗之國。卡比心生疑惑,立刻跳上傳送之星追了上去,卻在抵達家鄉後被眼前的景象嚇了一跳——天空竟然一顆星星都沒有了。原來噗噗噗之國的夜空太過美麗,讓帝帝帝大王忍不住嫉妒,於是把天上的星星全部偷走並藏在各個角落。為讓夜空恢復原本的閃耀光芒,卡比踏上尋回星星的旅程。
最核心的玩法,就是利用傾斜GBC主機使卡比在俯視角的路面上滾動。關卡設計有如彈珠台與迷宮的混合體,擺滿窄橋、懸空平台、移動地板與各式陷阱。只要傾斜太大角度,卡比就可能失控滾落平台而損失生命,因此玩家必須以細膩、穩定的方式操控各個方向,才能安全通過障礙。當路上遇到無法跨越的裂縫,只要快速向上甩動主機,卡比就會如彈跳球般跳過缺口。敵人多半不能吸入,碰到就會受傷,因此必須利用跳躍或關卡機關來反擊,例如利用彈簧、風洞或道具像是麥克風來清除威脅。在對抗魔頭時,卡比必須設法以體感操作的方式撞擊弱點,呈現與傳統卡比動作完全不同的戰鬥體驗。

Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble (Japanese title: コロコロカービィ) is the world’s first game cartridge to feature a built-in accelerometer motion sensor, making it a groundbreaking entry in the Kirby series. Released for the Game Boy Color in 2000, the game allows players to control Kirby by physically tilting the console. By tilting the system, Kirby rolls in the corresponding direction, and by flicking it upward, Kirby can jump. The game’s story is set on the peaceful and idyllic planet Pop Star. Kirby is enjoying a leisurely nap on a cloud when he notices Waddle Dee scurrying by. Soon after, King Dedede rushes past carrying a mysterious object, landing in Dream Land. Suspicious of Dedede’s intentions, Kirby follows him using his Warp Star, only to find that the night sky has been stripped of all its stars. King Dedede, envious of the beauty of the night sky, has stolen the stars and hidden them throughout Dream Land. Determined to restore the sky, Kirby sets off on an adventure to retrieve the stolen stars and return them to their rightful place.
Unlike traditional Kirby games, Kirby does not walk, fly, or inhale enemies in this title. Instead, he rolls like a marble in a top-down environment, where pits and obstacles present constant danger. Players must carefully tilt the Game Boy Color to navigate Kirby safely through the levels, using upward flicks to jump over gaps and interact with stage devices such as bumpers, jump holes, and balloons. The game also incorporates small mini-games that utilize the motion-sensing feature, enhancing its variety and replay value.
The control scheme is highly intuitive yet unique. Tilting the console moves Kirby in the corresponding direction, while flicking it upward makes him bounce. The Nintendo Switch Online version replicates this experience, allowing players to tilt either the Joy-Con controllers or the Switch system itself to control Kirby.
