知名日本JRPG遊戲製作人高橋哲哉在過去的作品總是融入機甲元素及廣闊的世界舞台，2010年由高橋製作的《異度神劍/異度之刃》（ゼノブレイドXenoblade/ Xenoblade Chronicles）在Wii，2015年則推出3DS版，很快遊戲受到許多好評，之後在Switch推出多款續作。而2020年在Switch發行的《異度神劍 終極版》則是補足當時硬體功能的不足，強化劇情及畫面品質。2017年12月1日在NS上市的《異度神劍2/異域神劍2/異度之刃2》（ゼノブレイド2/Xenoblade 2 / Xenoblade Chronicles 2）由Monolith Soft負責製作，日文版本可支援簡繁體。 

在很久的年代，人們在世界樹「阿爾斯特」所環繞的世界上方，簡稱為「樂園」與造物之神一起生活。而某日人類被驅趕到阿爾斯特，神的僕人「巨神獸（阿魯斯）」被派來協助人類的生活。隨著時間的消逝，巨神獸逐漸凋零，沉入雲海之下。主角雷克斯（レックス/Rex）是一位孤兒，平日負責打撈雲海下方的零件或物品來換取金錢。某日在協助伊拉組織成員們打撈一艘古老的船，發現一把神奇的聖劍，被稱為「天之聖杯」焰。 組織成員劍主真（シン/Jin）在雷克斯準備碰觸焰的時候將其刺死。當雷克斯與焰醒來時，焰將一半的生命讓予雷克斯復活，正式成為劍主後，為履行承諾，將一起前往被稱為樂園的地方。 

2018年9月14日上市的《異度神劍2 黃金之國伊拉》（ゼノブレイド2 黄金の国イーラ/Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country）仍是由Monolith Soft製作，任天堂發行販售。原本已經擁有2代的玩家，可以進行更新下載。故事環繞在前傳劇情發生的前500年，由法王拉達里亞（ラダリア）所領導的阿凱迪亞（アーケディア）成功攻佔席亞（シヤ），巨神獸也沉入雲海之下，背後操控這次軍事入侵行動的其實是滅（メツ）。傭兵勞拉（ラウラ）為尋找母親下落到處在各戰場上奔馳，最後與主角「真」一同與神劍霞（カスミ）會合，準備帶領反抗軍對抗神劍光跟阿戴爾（アデル）。有時候透過與居民對話會收到委託任務的訊息，成功完成後就能提升人際關係，之後就會出現更多不同的衍生任務。值得一提的是遊戲中的世界伊拉，是經過全新設計的地圖，古拉（グーラ）的舞台則是修改成五百年前的場景。

Renowned Japanese JRPG producer Tetsuya Takahashi is known for incorporating mecha elements and vast world settings into his works. In 2010, he developed Xenoblade Chronicles (ゼノブレイド / Xenoblade) for the Wii, which was later ported to the 3DS in 2015. The game quickly received widespread acclaim, leading to the release of several sequels on the Nintendo Switch. In 2020, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition was released for the Switch, compensating for the hardware limitations of previous platforms while enhancing the story and graphical quality.

On December 1, 2017, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (ゼノブレイド2 / Xenoblade 2 / Xenoblade Chronicles 2) was released for the Nintendo Switch, developed once again by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. The Japanese version of the game includes support for both simplified and traditional Chinese.

The story begins in an ancient era, where people once lived in a place called Paradise, a world floating above the Cloud Sea, centered around the World Tree known as Alrest, alongside the Creator God. However, one day, humanity was cast down to the base of Alrest, and the Creator’s servants—giant beasts known as Titans (Ars)—were sent to aid human survival. As time passed, the Titans gradually decayed and began to sink into the Cloud Sea.

The protagonist, Rex, is an orphan who makes a living salvaging parts and items from beneath the Cloud Sea. One day, while assisting members of the Torna organization in retrieving a sunken ship, he discovers a legendary blade known as the Aegis, named Pyra. However, just as Rex reaches for her, a member of the group, Jin, kills him. Pyra revives Rex by sharing half of her life force, and he officially becomes her Driver. To fulfill a promise made to her, Rex sets off on a journey to reach Paradise.

On September 14, 2018, Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country (ゼノブレイド2 黄金の国イーラ) was released, once again developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. Players who already owned Xenoblade Chronicles 2 could access it as downloadable content.

The story is a prequel, set 500 years before the main events of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It revolves around the kingdom of Torna, where Pope Rhadalyia of Aureus successfully leads an invasion of Sia, causing the Titans there to sink beneath the Cloud Sea. Behind this military operation is none other than Malos.

The protagonist, Lora, is a mercenary searching for her missing mother. She travels across various battlefields and eventually joins forces with Jin and the legendary Blade Haze (カスミ / Kasumi). Together, they form a resistance against the Aegis Mythra and Addam (アデル).

Throughout the game, players can receive side quests by talking to townsfolk. Successfully completing these quests improves relationships and unlocks new missions. A notable feature is that the world of Torna is rendered using a completely new map, and the region of Gormott (グーラ) has been redesigned to reflect its state 500 years in the past.
